Бета-блокаторы являются безопасными и эффективными лекарственными средствами, назначаемые по поводу высокого артериального давления или загрудинных болей, но их также применяют для лечения нарушений, связанных со страхом публичных выступлений или действий, обычно именуемым "страхом сцены". Бета-блокаторы урежают учащённое сердцебиение и уменьшают покраснение и повышенную потливость, часто испытываемые людьми, собирающимися выйти на сцену или встретиться с группой других людей.

Если у вас диабет и Вы должны принимать бета-блокаторы, то атенолол является препаратом выбора, так как он не задерживает подъем сахара крови до нормального уровня.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Cotreatment with an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor reduces the risk of diabetes associated with beta blocker treatment, according to a report in the April 18th online American Journal of Cardiology... Dr. Vardeny added, "Beta blockers are...life-saving therapies for certain indications, such as to prevent post-MI remodeling and for patients with systolic dysfunction heart failure. In those cases, avoiding a beta blocker should not be an option.

Beta-blockers, used to lower blood pressure, actually INCREASE heart attack-risk.
In contrast to patients with MI and heart failure, betablocker–associated reduction in heart rate increased the risk of cardiovascular events and death for hypertensive patients. Pharmacologically-induced bradycardia may lead to dyssynchrony between outgoing and reflected pulse wave, thereby increasing central aortic pressure and the hemodynamic burden to the target organs. Dr. Fuhrman's thoughts:

Patients should be given the clear facts that medications do not have a significant impact on reducing heart attacks, the leading cause of death in people with high blood pressure. In fact, because of their negative effect on lipids and glucose levels, drug treatments such as beta-blockers and diuretics may even increase the risk of heart attacks in some individuals.
Instead, Dr. Fuhrman recommends exercise and dietary intervention, like avoiding salt and eating more fruits and vegetables, to treat hypertension.

A 2008 study published in the Nutrition Journal found that by just having high blood pressure more than doubles your risk of developing type 2 diabetes!. The link between high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes is beta-blocker drugs. The study discovered that the mechanisms by which beta-blockers contribute to the development of diabetes include weight gain, attenuation of the beta-receptor-mediated release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells, and decreased blood flow through the microcirculation in skeletal-muscle tissue, leading to decreased insulin sensitivity...

With heart disease being the leading cause of death in both men and women in the United States and with close to 50 million Americans having high blood pressure, and 18.2 million people — 6.3% of the population — having diabetes these studies provide a wealth of insight and a direction for us to practice to regain health and without the nasty side effects and high costs associated with the high blood pressure and diabetes drugs!

If you have diabetes look over your medication prescribed by your family physician. Is Vitamin C included? Most likely not and never will be. Why not if it helps lower high blood pressure and prevent type 2 diabetes? The answer is money. The drug companies are in the business to make money. They are not in the business to heal you and most definitely not in it to cure the World of disease.

Today, family physicians around the World are no longer healers, they are the pharmaceutical companies’ drug pushers. They are encouraged to push untested and very toxic and lethal drugs. What motivates family physicians into pushing drugs for the pharmaceutical drug companies? If a physician keeps you and I sick or makes us sicker by prescribing beta-blocker drugs (drugs that have been shown to cause type 2 diabetes), they stay in business. To the drug companies diabetes and high blood pressure patients are lifers. They are unnecessarily made into life time drug abusers when they are told by their family physician that they will need drugs to control (not cure) their diabetes and high blood pressure or suffer horrific pain, discomfort or even lose ones eye sight or limbs ( the scare tactic used by all physician to keep their patients hooked on diabetic drugs)...
