В погоні за ексклюзивом, рейтингами і кількістю глядачів телебачення сьогодні забуло про етичні норми і моральні цінності. Заради того,щоб втримати глядача перед екраном, телевізійники вдаються до показу відео,яке містить не просто агресію – а відверті сцени бійок, принижувань, вбивств… Вже не говорячи про фільми,які показують після 10-ї вечора.    Чому це відбувається? Як би не банально звучало, але людям це подобається. А мас-медійники, в свою чергу, заробляють на цьому.    Існує кілька гіпотез, стосовно впливу екранного насильства на свідомість людей. Перша стосується задоволення, своєрідного катарсису, якого досягає глядач, споглядаючи кадри з насильством. Можливо, це є своєрідною психологічною розрядкою для декого. І за допомогою фантазії, глядач, для прикладу, вбиває свої проблеми.  Друга – гіпотеза гальмування, або стримання. На її основі стверджують, що після перегляду сцен з насильством, глядач не отримує задоволення і не залишається спокійним, а переживає певний страх та тривогу. Третя гіпотеза стосується десенсибілізації – тобто абсолютної страти чутливості глядача. Схоже, що саме в такому стані перебуває більшість людей сьогодні. Ми вже настільки звикли до безладу на екрані , що абсолютно спокійно сприймаємо все,що нам показують. Глядач просто звикає до кадрів з насильством. Четвертою гіпотезою є гіпотеза Маєрса – гіпотеза стимулювання. На його думку, перегляд кадрів з насильством підвищує агресію телеглядача. І остання гіпотеза – наслідування. На її основі стверджують, що глядач може навчитись темним моделям агресії і перенести екранне насильство в реальне життя, так як між ним і показаним на екрані з’являється прямий зв'язок. Одна справа, коли глядачі просто звикають до кадрів з насильством, інша – коли починають вважати, що саме насильство є одним з дієвих способів вирішувати проблеми наш час.

   Чи зникне колись екранна агресія? Відповідь очевидна : ні. Тому що це – вигідний хід для телебачення. Це стосується як художнього, так і документального насильства. А не зникне воно тому, що ми живемо в такому світі, де щодня відбуваються страшні речі, про які розповідають і які показують журналісти.
