AUD/USD Forecast For October 17, 2012 (Daily Strategy)

The pair had a strong resistance at 1.0290. Yesterday it broke this level and gained quickly positions and now is between the 200 day moving average periods. If the rate exceeds this level it will be very bullish for the next few days. It is likely to set back again towards 1.0290; now it becomes a very strong support. If you buy positions below 1.0290 we recommend keeping because it is expected the aussie to reach the level of 1.0400 in the short term.

Moreover, it is recommended buying above 1.0290, when there is a rebound to those levels.

GOLD Intraday Technical Analysis

Gold is currently testing the upper limit of its medium-term bearish channel at 1,755 suggesting a decline. However, a break of these levels will initiate a bullish channel.
Technical indicators provide buy signals but until the resistance is not broken the assumption of a decline is most likely. Bollinger bands are much discarded as a result of a strong decline these days. Stabilization is expected in the short term.
Gold is currently testing the upper limit of its channel, we suggest 2 scenarios. The first one is the hypothesis of a decline where we recommend a sell on the level of 1,755 with the 1st objective at 1,745 and then at 1,740. A breakthrough of 1,758 will invalidate this scenario. The second scenario is a break of its resistance where we advise a “buy stop” which means to buy gold as soon as it is broken through its resistance of 1,755 with the 1st objective at 1,765 and then at 1,770. A breakthrough of 1,752 will invalidate this scenario.

USD/CAD Intraday Technical Analysis and Trading Recommendations for October 17, 2012

After the USD/CAD pair broke below 0.9845 the market went to the downside. It reached the price level of 0.9635 testing the lower limit of the depicted bearish long-term channel which expressed a considerable bullish strength.
The USD/CAD bullish movement managed to break above the upper limit of the depicted long-term channel (0.9725) which was considered to be a bullish signal in the long term with a possible bullish 123 reversal pattern appearing on the DAILY chart targeting 0.9980.
Price zone 0.9820 - 0.9850 is an intraday resistance zone. In order to resume the targets for the bullish patterns targeting around 0.9980 there should be a break above the intraday resistance zone which took place earlier today but it did not succeed.
Intraday Price Action towards 0.9820 should be watched for a valid Intraday BUY entry.
Fixation below price level of 0.9650 invalidates the bullish scenario for the current situation.

GBP/USD Intraday Technical Analysis and Trading Recommendations for October 17, 2012

The GBP/USD pair reacted strongly towards 1.6300 – 1.6350 zone confirming the bearish retracement scenario expected in the previous weeks.
The bearish Head and Shoulders reversal pattern on the 4H chart, which was confirmed on Friday, enabled 1.6060 level as a full target for the pattern which got hit on Monday with further decline towards 1.6000.
GBP/USD expressed daily closure below the lower limit of the depicted bullish channel which extended the bearish movement towards 1.5970 which has been providing considerable support for the pair so far.
The lower limit of the depicted 4H channel provided considerable support pushing the GBP/USD pair to the upper limit of the bearish 4H channel around 1.6125 which has been broken during today's consolidations.
The lower limit of the broken DAILY channel is being approached to be retested around the current price levels with a valid SELL entry with SL located above 1.6215.
Price Action and daily candlestick closure towards price zone 1.6160 - 1.6180 should be watched for confirmation of the validation of the suggested SELL entry.

Support: 1.6125, 1.6070, 1.6020 and 1.5970
Resistance: , 1.6175, 1.6260, and 1.6315.
