GBP/USD. Forecast for October 4, 2012

Services PMI for September in Great Britain demonstrated a decline from 53.7 in August to 52.2, economists expected the reading to reach 53.1. In addition, the UK construction index was below the forecasts which led to the pound fall.
Today, at 15:00 (GMT +3), the BoE is to disclose the decision on its interest rate and the bond purchase program. The indicators are supposed to be left unchanged. The interest rate should be 0.5% while the program should be maintained at 375 bn pounds.
Later, at 15:45, the ECB is to set its interest rate and then at 16:30 we are waiting for Mario Draghi’s press conference. At 22:00 the minutes of the latest Fed’s meeting will be published.
Technically, in case 1.6067 is breached, it is possible to go down to 1.6035, 1.6016. After 1.6110 is tested, the ascending movement towards 1.6124, 1.6138, 1.6163, and 1.6190 is possible.

USD/JPY Intraday Technical Levels for October 04, 2012

TODAY's  TECHNICAL  LEVEL:

Resistance 3: 78.88.

Resistance 2: 78.73.

Resistance 1: 78.57.

Support 1: 78.38.

Support 2: 78.23.

Support 3: 78.07.

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

Please, pay attention to the levels of support 3 (78.07) and resistance 3 (78.88). In general, when a level is touched, USD/JPY will rebound from the previous minimum by 10 to 20 pips, but if the levels are broken through by over 50 pips, then it will be a sign that these currencies have found trends today.

EUR/USD Intraday Technical Levels for October 04, 2012

Today's Technical Levels:

Breakout BUY Level: 1.2984.

Strong Resistance: 1.2976.

Original Resistance: 1.2964.

Inner Sell Area: 1.2951.

Target Inner Area: 1.2921.

Inner Buy Area: 1.2890.

Original Support: 1.2878.

Strong Support: 1.2865.

Breakout SELL Level: 1.2857.

 

Description:

Today EUR/USD has support and resistance at 1.2878 and 1.2964 and is accompanied by strong support at 1.2865 and by 1.2976 as strong resistance.

If EUR/USD breaks out and closes below 1.2857 level today, this will indicate a considerable bearish strength, while if EUR/USD manages to break out and close above 1.2984 level, this will denote a high bullish strength. Alternatively, for advance traders, you can trade in a way to open a BUY position at the level of 1.2890 and SELL position at 1.2951. In this case both targets should be located at the level of 1.2921.

USD/CHF : Technical Analysis

Overview:

USD/CHF is consolidating as markets await 11:45 GMT ECB interest rate announcement. USD/CHF supported by positive USD sentiment. But USD/CHF upside limited by broadly weaker demand for safe-haven USD as risk appetite improves; caution ahead of tomorrow's U.S. non-farm payrolls data. 

Preference:
Long positions above 0.934 with 0.9395 and 0.9415 as next targets.

Resistance Levels :
0.9399 (Wednesday's high, matching 200-day moving average)
0.9415 *** intraday resistance
0.9438 (Monday's high)
0.9473 (Sept. 11 high).

Alternative scenario:
The downside breakout of 0.934 will open the way to 0.928 and 0.925.

Support Levels :
0.9281 (Sept. 21 low)
0.9257-0.9249 band (Sept. 20 low-Sept. 18 low)
0.9235 band (Sept.14 four-month low).  

Comment:
Daily chart is mixed as MACD is bullish, but stochastics is turning to be bearish; 5-day moving average meandering sideways.  the pair is supported by a rising trend line currently around 0.934.

NZD/USD: Technical Analysis for October 4, 2012

S2: 0.8107
S3: 0.8031

Overview:

The NZD/USD pair is expected to continue the movement from the point of 0.8200. Thus, kiwi shows the signs of strength, following the breakdown of the highest level 0.8200. This fact can be considered as a good signal for BUY deals above this strong support (0.8200) with the first targets at 0.8300 and 0.8380 (it will serve as a strong resistance level and is considered to be appropriate for Take Profit orders). It is necessary to mention that this level will coincide with the weekly resistance 1 (0.8377). However, in case of the reverse movement and if the NZD/USD pair fails to break through the resistance level of 0.8380, the market will show a further decline to the 0.8323 level indicating a bearish mood in order to retest the weekly pivot point at this level 0.8280.
