Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) (www.ngccoin.com) has released a new app for smart phones that you can use to verify NGC certified coins. Coin Details is a free and easy to use app that works with iPhone®, iPod® or Android™ devices. The app requires a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet or access to your phones data network. You can enter the certification number manually or scan it in with your phone's camera. I tried to scan several barcodes from different coins under different lighting conditions and I could not get any of them to work. Other than that, the app gives you a great deal of data about the coin.
