ConnTraQ
ConnTraQ act as proxy server. It register itself as http, https and socks proxy and catch this way most of your connections targeting outside your local network. It is no firewall, nothing that grap deep into your system. It just ask your os to anounce it as proxy for all outside connections.




Proxy server are available since the first days of internet. There main purpose in these days was to save limited bandwidth, to make it possible, that several people share a small internet uplink. Today proxies are most often used to control access to unwanted content or for security reasons.

I use both techniques with an easy to use guy to make it possible to configure a proxy without deep administrative knowledge. ConnTraQ is not indented to run always. It is intended to get started when necessary, e.g. when you are connected to a slow internet connection, mobile connection or when there are high roaming charges.


Start ConnTraQ, go to profiles tab and make your selections. This is all you need to get some privacy, no ads from common advertisers or prevent websites from tracking you with analytics.
