The world premiere of the opera "Francis” took place in the Bolshoi theatre

"Francis" – is the first premiere in the project "Laboratory of a modern Opera", which started in the walls of the Bolshoi theatre on the Basil Barahtov initiative.

At first glance, opera staged by Sergey Nevsky, Russian composer, who live in Berlin and has already become one of the key personalities of the European musical avant-garde, is not the opera. As Nevsky puts it himself, it is more of an oratorio, written for two voices, narrator and choir. This minimalism as if excludes the big stage of the Opera theatre. But the paradox is: just that very opera gives the opportunity to the modern complex music to meet with a wide theatrical audience.
