Vidya to do a biopic on classical singer MS Subbulakshmi

Vidya Balan certainly started this year on a high note by being nominated and winning various awards for her performances in Kahaani and The Dirty Picture. Now, we hear that the actress is all set for her next, which will be a biopic based on Carnatic classical singer MS Subbulakshmi.

Though Vidya already has a slew of films lined up for 2013 starting with Rajkumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar, followed by Shaadi Ke Side Effects ending with either Sujoy Ghosh's sequel to Kahaani or this biopic.

While details of the film are yet unavailable, the film that will be directed by Rajiv Menon is said to be a lavish musical. Interestingly this year, we will see two other actors, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar, also featuring in biopics. While Priyanka's is based on the Olympic pugilist Mary Kom, Ranbir Kapoor will be working on a Kishore Kumar biopic with Anurag Basu while Farhan Akhtar takes on Indian sprinter Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
