Neeraj Pandey to produce Aman Ki Asha

Ali Zafar of Chashme Buddoor and Yami Gautam from Vicky Donor will play a Pakistani boy and an Indian girl ready to break border barriers for love in a film called Aman Ki Asha

Of course Ali plays Aman and Yami plays Asha. The film written by Neeraj Pandey is currently being directed by E. Niwas under an air of supreme secrecy.

Pandey whose first film was a critical and commercial winner and was remade into three languages, has now scripted a remake of a 2004 Spanish film Seres Queridos (Only Human) a comic love story of a Jewish girl and Palestinian boy, which has been transposed by Pandey into an Indo-Pak setting.

Says a source, "e;Pandey feels strongly on the Indo-Pak issue. We've had earlier films showing a cross-border romance like Raj Kapoor's Henna, J.P Dutta's Refugee and Yash Chopra's Veer Zaara. Pandey's film would be hilarious take on the issue without trivializing it."e;

Interestingly Aman Ki Asha will star the real-life Pakistani star Ali Zafar opposite our own Vicky Donor actress Yami Gautam playing his Indian love-interest. Pandey whose Special 26 opens today won't direct this film. E Niwas will. Pandey has written and produced Aman Ki Asha.

While both Neeraj Pandey and Ali Zafar confirmed their participation in this project they declined from elaborate comment until the project is formally announced.

However, one learns Aman Ki Asha will be released simultaneously in India and Pakistan at a time when there is a campaign in the Pakistani film industry to ban 90 percent of Indian films on the other side of the border.

Interestingly, Neeraj Pandey's A Wednesday was not only remade into Tamil and Telugu it was also remade into the English language under the title A Common Man with Ben Kingsley and Ben Cross playing the roles originally played in Pandey's film by Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher.

"e;So in a way by adapting the topical humane story of a Spanish film into an Indian context Neeraj Pandey is only returning the compliment,"e; says a source close to Pandey.

Emraan to walk red carpet at Berlin film festival

Emraan Hashmi who has been the Bhatt's golden boy for a while now, has been venturing into different camps of late. With multiple hits under his belt, Emraan has certainly carved a niche for himself in the industry. Now we hear that Hashmi is all set to walk the red carpet at the Berlin Film Festival in support of Danis Tanovic's new film An Episode In The life of an Iron Picker.

Earlier it was reported that Emraan is signed on to play a role in Danis Tanovic's next, while Cinemorphic, the production house of Prashita Chaudhary, will produce the film in co-production with Anurag Kashyap and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment in India and internationally with Cedomir Kolar and Marc Baschet.

Speaking about the red carpet event, Guneet Monga of Sikhya Entertainment says, "e;We are one big family there to support and cheer on for Danis as his film is in competition. I am glad to be producing his next film."e;

Sunny Leone and KRK file case against each other

Sunny Leone and Kamaal R. Khan (KRK) have engaged in a war of words with KRK even filing a case against Leone. KRK got agitated when he claimed that Sunny Leone tweeted, "e;rape is not a crime, it is surprise sex"e;. He said that the actress shouldn't have made such a frivolous statement. Khan tweeted, "e;I have filed case not only against Sunny but her lukkha husband Daniel Weber also. Ye sunny ne madu makkhiyon ke chatte main haath dala hai. Police should arrest Sunny Leone n her husband within 24 hours according to my complaint if police will not arrest then I shall go to court."e;

However, Leone denied that she tweeted anything like that. She tweeted, "e;Who ever has said this rape comment is an idiot. I never said this. Grow up!!!!!!!!!"e; She further said that KRK wanted her to do a film with him which she couldn't do because of which he was tarnishing her reputation. The Canadian adult star has now lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell of Mumbai Police against KRK for falsely attributing controversial comments on rape to her on his micro blogging page.

It remains to be seen who wins this battle of the sexes.

Amit Kumar sings Naino Mein Sapna in Himmatwala

We all remember the very famous matka song 'Naino Mein Sapna' sung by eternal Kishore Kumar. In what is some spectacular news for the legendary singer's fans all over the world, for the first time you will get to hear his son, Amit Kumar sing the reprised version of the song 3 decades later in the Sajid Khan's version of Himmatwala.

When asked why he roped in Amit Kumar for the song, Sajid Khan said, "e;Re- recording 'Naino Mein Sapna' for me was like being a part of History. Never before has a son sung the same song in the same style which was rendered by his father 30 years ago. When Amit started singing Kishoreda's lines it was almost like Kishoreda had come alive to sing the song for us. There was only one Kishore Kumar and there will be only one Amit Kumar."e;

Music directors Sajid -Wajid have recreated the music of this chartbuster keeping in sync with today's music. The melodious Shreya Ghoshal has lent her voice for the female part of the number.

So get ready to listen to this upbeat classic 80's song as 'Naino Mein Sapna' releases online this Friday.

Adi Chopra and I share sheer passion for filmmaking - Dibakar

Dibakar Banerjee speaks to Subhash K Jha about his short film with Nawazuddin Siddiqui & his 3-film deal with Yash Raj Films

Have you finished shooting your short film?
Yes, I've just completed it. Its part of a larger feature film that would have short films by three other directors Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap. It's been a great experience shooting with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. It was almost like shooting the core of a film.

Please explain?
A feature-film on the concept level has 6-7 key scenes. Martin Scorsese said, 'When I think of a film I always think of those 6-7 key scenes'. For example in Raging Bull the key scene is Robert de Niro beating his head against the wall. So those key scenes become the core of your film.

Your short film will be part of the larger scheme of films called Bombay Talkies?
All the 4 films are stand-alone products. But they will be released together. A bit like Paris Je T'Aime. But the unifying theme would be cinema in Bombay Talkies. But we aren't making documentaries. We are celebrating cinema.

What's it like to work with Nawazuddin?
Fantastic. He is evolved into one of the best actors we have. Nawaz plays a normal everyday man who nurses a fascination for the world of cinema. He's a dreamer like all of us. But everyone's dream differs.

What's your short film called?
The overall compendium is called Bombay Talkies. The individual stories don't have titles.

You've been lately in the news of for your 3-film deal with Yash Raj Films. How did you and Aditya Chopra come together?
Frankly, we turned out to be quite similar in our goals. We both like making films. If I didn't make films I wouldn't know what to do with myself. Aditya Chopra and I share the sheer passion for filmmaking, all kinds of filmmaking. We both simply enjoy the process of filmmaking. I'll be directing two films for Yash Raj while a third film would be directed by Kanu Behl who wrote Love Sex Aur Dhokha.

But your next two directorial films are for Yash Raj?
They'd be Yash Raj-Dibakar Banerjee co-productions.

Since you're directing for Yash Raj would you incorporate elements from the Yash Raj school of filmmaking?
Not at all. It would be entirely what I'd like to make. When I met Aditya Chopra he made it very clear that he was only interested in the kind of cinema that I made. The whole idea of bringing me into Yash Raj is so I can bring my sensibility into the production house.

Which of your films has Aditya Chopra liked?
Khosla Ka Ghosla, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye and Love Sex Aur Dhokha. I am told he sees all the movies as part of the public audience. We had a long discussion on the climax of Shanghai. Aditya really liked Abhay Deol's performance in Shanghai.

The awards have eluded your latest film Shanghai?
I've never thought about it. But Khosla Ka Ghosla, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye and Love Sex Aur Dhokha got many awards. Shanghai got 8 Filmfare nominations this year. That's an honour. But the biggest award is that I am able to make the films that I want. Who would've thought that I'd be able to survive in this film industry with the kind of cinema that I make? My biggest award is that I'm at the right place at the right time. How many filmmakers are lucky enough to say that? I've a consistent audience that is growing. That gives me the confidence to go on. Ten years from now that audience would've travelled that distance with me. It's comforting thought. I want to live long enough to make the films that I want to.

Will an element of surprise continue to underscore your cinema?
Trying to say something new and finding new answers to the question of life is what I find most enriching in my work.

A short film then two back-to-back feature films for Yash Raj. Does that look like a lot of work to you?
Oh, it looks like a lot of play to me.

I hope to see you make an intense love story?
But first, I've to grow up for it. It isn't easy talking about love at 40 in cinema. Most love stories are about the 18-25 age bracket. To do a true love story you've to know the man-woman relationship. It takes a lifetime to know what oneself. Then it takes another lifetime to know a woman.
