If you’re still sobbing over One Direction‘s loss at the 2013 BRIT Awards (or shaking your fist angrily at Mumford & Sons), we have some news that might cheer you up. 1D’s music video for their charitable cover of Blondie‘s “One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)” has debuted! In the clip to benefit Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, the boy band seem to be channeling The Monkees‘ silly antics as they hop across the globe from Africa, to Japan to the States spreading smiles and general goofiness everywhere they go. Watch as Liam, Harry, Zayn, Louis and Niall giggle with a gaggle flight attendants, hug a Statue Of Liberty impersonator and start a conga line in Ghana.

Even though Beyonce didn’t end up joining the BRIT Awards lineup this year, the show still featured a great set of performances. After taking home two big awards, Emeli Sande closed out the ceremony with a pair of songs that was all class.
Earlier in the show, Justin Timberlake delivered the live debut of the epic “Mirrors.” Taylor Swift ditched the acid circus extravaganza for “I Knew You Were Trouble,” though she added a wubby dance breakdown because SHE’S A POP STAR NOW, GUYS, get it through your thick skulls. One Direction (drama!) may have lost out to Mumford & Sons, but they turned out a peppy take of their harmonic “One Way or Another” cover. Speaking of Mumford, they did their foot-stomping, fast-plucking thing to great effect. Check out the performances below.
One Direction — “One Way or Another”
Taylor Swift — “I Knew You Were Trouble”
Justin Timberlake — ”Mirrors”
Emeli Sande — “Clown/Next to Me”
Mumford & Sons — ”I Will Wait”

Travis Garland has already carved out a major following as a recording artist — first as a breakout star in the boyband NLT and later as a solo singer in his own right, working with The Stereotypes on smooth pop-R&B with a little more grit than his contemporaries. (He also has performed on American Idol and has collaborated with our beloved JoJo, which is pretty dope.)
And while we’re on the subject of JoJo: Just as she transformed from a teen-pop queen into a serious artist making some of the most sneakily dynamic genre-free music in the game, Garland seems to have undergone a similar transformation, as evidenced by the video for his lead single “Where to Land,” taken from his upcoming EP Fashionably Late: Vol II, which drops March 4.
The clip is simple and elegant — mostly close shots of Garland against a glittering cityscape — but it’s the song that really grabs your attention, a slinky minimalist R&B cut with dreamy falsetto vocals and an irresistible hook, with assistance from rapper III. It’s a strong offering that evokes The Weeknd or even Prince more than the slick pop of his past.
Watch up top.
