Leuven Research & Development launches 100th spin-off

No one could have predicted at the time of its founding in 1972 that KU Leuven Research & Development (LRD) would become the cradle of 100 companies and thousands of cooperation contracts with industry partners. Nor that this office for knowledge and technology transfer would produce thousands of jobs in the Leuven region and hundreds of millions of euros in revenue.

Launch event International Curricula and student mobility

On the 6th of June 2013, a new LERU advice paper “International curricula and student mobility”, has been presented to the press. The paper sets out different forms of student mobility, from exchange mobility, which is widely spread and well known thanks to the Erasmus programme, to more structured forms of student mobility such as networked and embedded mobility.

Open letter from LERU regarding the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI)

Today LERU releases an open letter about IMI - the Innovative Medicines Initiative. The letter explains why the current financial and IP rules of IMI 2 discourage academic partners from participating in the scheme. We call for a more balanced approach to rights and obligations among all collaborating partners and for rules that are largely consistent with Horizon 2020.

Jukka Kola elected as Rector of the University of Helsinki
