More Chickasaw Quarters have been struck -- by far -- than any other America the Beautiful Quarter, U.S. Mint coin production figures for November reveal.
Also unveiled were Garfield Presidential $1 mintages. No big surprise with those as they came pretty much in line with other recent issues in the Presidential $1 coin series.

Spot gold dealings had lost nearly $38 on Thursday and closed near their lows for the day, threatening to breach the $1,700 price support. This morning's near $10 opening advance to $1,715 per ounce represented perhaps in part a response (and a small one at that) to the EU's fiscal accord but more likely a minor corrective bounce in a market that still has the euro trading at $1.33 and the US dollar unwilling to roll over and fall on a sword. One would have expected a truly grand celebration ($75 or more) in the yellow metal's trading space on the back of the "be-all end-all" agreement that was cobbled together in Marseille.

The United States Mint recently unveiled the selected five reverse designs for the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters. The same designs will also be used on the investment-grade 2012 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coins and numismatic 2012 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins.
These five final designs were chosen from a total of twenty-four design candidates released by the United States Mint in October 2010. Gold advanced for the first time in three days Friday, recouping a small portion of a weekly loss that totaled $63, or 3.5 percent -- the biggest five-day drop since September 23. Gold prices edged up $4.90, or 0.3 percent, to $1,725.10 an ounce in the December futures contract on the Comex in New York, trading between $1,711.40 and $1,738.50.

Recognizing the important contributions they made to the history of the United States, the New Frontier Congressional Gold Medal was awarded earlier this week to four former NASA astronauts during a ceremony held in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. The Congressional Gold Medals were presented to John Herschel Glenn, Jr.; Neil A. Armstrong; Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr.; and Michael Collins at the ceremony held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.
Bronze medal replicas of the awarded New Frontier Congressional Gold Medal are available from the United States Mint in both 3 inch and 1.5 inch sizes. The 3 inch bronze medal sells for $44.95 while the 1.5 inch bronze medal is offered for $7.95.
