Tombola Boy, Leeds, UK balkan swing, electro, DnB, jungle. Another DJ from Leeds this week is Tombolal Boy aka Tom Excell or Axewound. Known for crafting a range of electronic music in a uniquely intricate yet underground style. He has a musical background as a classically trained guitarist, coupled with a penchant for extreme bass frequencies. He’s part of the Electro Swing Leeds Connexion with Miko du Mal or the great Wolfie I podcasted last week.

Be careful the end of the 2nd part of the mix might be dangerous for your heart or/ and your Speakers!

Absurge, San Fransisco, USA fidget, house, electro, swing. Serge Beaulieu AKA absurge got in touch with me few hours ago. Listened the mix, loved it, podcasted it. Simple as that !

This mix was recorded in a single take, on September 21st 2010…. and has not been edited or mastered. therefore it’s not perfect, but it is fun and weird and a bit twisted too. Over the years I have been collecting an eclectic mix of dance music. The apex of this habit exploded at Burning Man 2010, DJ’ing atop The Janky Barge. (Saturday night for those that were there)
I wanted to recreate that set… I call it circus house and it’s inspired by the desert…

What is Electro Swing for you ?

For me, electro swing marries the earliest eras of classic dance music, with the newest sounds of the electronic movement. its futureistic nostalgica, new yet old, and makes everyone smile and move.

The city is known for fine food and easy living, but I can tell you it’s one of the best place to hear Blakan music in France. And who plays Balkan, now plays Swing !!! Just what K.D.S. does … and he does it well :-)

StrangerDanger, Oakland, USA Swing, Trad Jazz, Originals. Dominic F a.k.a. StrangerDanger has been a part of the underground music scene since 1992. Going from house dancer, to promoter, to DJ, and now producer, Danger has followed a natural progression for those who love House Music.
Having a grandfather who was a Baptist preacher and a dad in a funk band, Danger’s love for music started early in life. Since his first rave in the early 90′s, Danger soaked up the eclectic diversity in the Bay Area and grew to love and appreciate House Music for its energy and community, as well as its soulful healing and message.

I hope this mix will inspire young cool cats ! Respect the samples you use & listen to old jazz records … a wonderful mix it is : )

What is Electro Swing for you ?

Electro Swing for me means nostalgic feelings, good times, and fun. Bringing the big bands and jazz clubs into the 21st century. Swing music is feel good music. Its hard to get that same sound nowadays. There is a lot we could learn about grooving from these old tunes.
